New Features and
Improvements in MAGic 8.01
1. Incremental Panning
- Available from the Keyboard Assignments Dialog under the Category of
Panning/Navigation, this feature lets user set keystrokes to pan the screen
in fixed increments.
2. Cross-platform networking - Networking MAGic between 9X servers and
NT clients is now possible! The reverse is also true.
3. New feature to Disable Screen Savers - Users can now easily turn screen
savers off while MAGic is running. This helps to read lengthy documents
without being interrupted by the screen saver. This feature is available
from the Display dialog, accessed from the Magnification menu.
4. Improved mouse-based navigation with smoother scrolling and less pointer
flickering, improving the usability of higher magnification levels.

Windows Platforms
1. Fixed the problem
where Document Reading was skipping specific lines of a document unexpectedly
2. Fixed some menu items not being spoken when using Infovox speech.
3. Fixed SAPI speech support lost after stopping Document Reading with
a mouse movement.
4. Switching the speech language to Portuguese now announces the language
with the correct word.
5. Fixed the slow language announcement when using Infovox speech.
6. The Hungarian Wintalker synthesizer will now be shown when Update Synthesizer
is selected from the voices dialog box.
7. Fixed the Primary Language reverting back to Eloquence US English after
updating the Synthesizers list.
8. Fixed a problem where MAGic was preventing the Macromedia Flash Player
from being installed.
Fixes for Windows
95/98/ME
1. MAGic now exits
faster and doesn't present the "Are you sure you want to exit?"
dialog, which speeds up system shutdown.
2. Fixed missing Page Break indicator on Word 2000.
3. Fixed error when using Windows Media Player 7 visualizations.
4. Fixed the first item on a menu not spoken unless arrowing down and
up again.
5. MAGic now displays correctly Central European characters, such as those
used in Czech and Slovak languages.
6. Fixed the loss of highlight and synchronization for Document Reading
on systems where MAGic is installed along with applications that use IBM's
ViaVoice TTS.
7. When changing magnification levels 1x-2x the screen refresh had 1-2
second delay. This is fixed.
8. Fixed Document Reading repeating the last line of each screen on a
Microsoft Word document.
9. Fixed MAGic spelling instead of reading German words that contain the
U umlaut (ü) character.
Fixes for Windows
NT/2000/XP
1. Improved tracking
of Desktop, file and folder icons and menu items.
2. MAGic now allows DVD movies and full screen games to work in most systems.
Previously, our video driver was preventing DVD-playing software and games
using DirectDraw from running properly.
3. MAGic no longer shuts down JAWS 4.5 during startup. As a result, users
that run JAWS 4.5 at startup will retain the capabilities to access the
Windows Security dialogs.
4. Fixed the occasional Internet Explorer crash while browsing web pages
with Mouse Echo turned on.
5. Fixed the problem of loosing speech after accessing websites with Macromedia
Flash content on Windows 2000 and XP.
6. Fixed the lack of smoothing on WindowsUpdate, WindowsMedia and other
websites.
7. Fixed the poor tracking of the typing cursor when MAGic and JAWS run
together
8. MAGic now displays the blinking caret at the same speed even when JAWS
is running.
9. SAPI speech engines are now supported on Windows XP Service Pack 1.
10. Fixed the Relative mouse tracking that was missing the mouse pointer
while navigating towards the center of the screen.
11. Fixed the problem of MAGic not loading if OpenBook or WYNN were used
previously on the same Windows session.
12. Fixed a problem where MAGic was splitting words with diacritics on
Czech versions of Windows 2000 and XP.
13. Fixed MAGic Demo not running on restricted user accounts.
