Data Retained After Hard Reset or Battery Discharge

If you encounter a situation where your battery goes flat for an extended period of time, or a hard reset (performed by pressing the reset button on the underside of the unit with an extended paper clip) is required, your data will no longer be erased. This includes any saved documents or third-party software you have installed.

All data is now stored in the PAC Mate Omni's 128 MB of built-in Flash memory. While some of this is used for the storage of the operating system and PAC Mate Omni software, you still have approximately six times the amount of storage as in the previous PAC Mate.

Windows Mobile 6.0 is the most keyboard friendly version of this operating system yet. With full support for soft keys in Windows Mobile products, the PAC Mate Omni can allow you to install a huge variety of off-the-shelf applications that offer excellent keyboard support. Youre not limited to the applications Freedom Scientific includes.

PowerPoint Mobile Support

PowerPoint is now an essential tool for many professionals, and is often being used in the classroom. Have you ever been in a situation where someone is running a PowerPoint presentation and there are no notes in an accessible format? Now, the presenter can give you a copy of that presentation via beaming, a thumb drive or ActiveSync, and you have access to the data with speech and Braille right on your PAC Mate Omni at the same time the presentation is being run. You can also follow along with your own PowerPoint presentations on your PAC Mate Omni, while running the presentation on a computer.

Improved Office Mobile Support

In addition to the arrival of PowerPoint Mobile, the PAC Mate Omni brings you more robust, feature-rich versions of the Office Mobile applications. In particular, enhancements to e-mail support mean you can keep in touch how you want, when you want, wherever you are.

You can now read HTML e-mails easily, viewing the message in its entirety, including heading structure. You can activate links from within a message and the new HTML environment makes composing a message easier. You can use a single keystroke to move between the header and body of the message as well as using TAB (DOTS 4-5 CHORD) and SHIFT+TAB (DOTS 1-2 CHORD) to move through the header field and to any link in the message body.

In addition to the ability to synchronize e-mail with your computer, log into SSL-based servers and more, the PAC Mate Omni brings you the benefits of Microsofts direct push technology. Stay connected with a Microsoft Exchange server, and the e-mail comes to your PDA whenever anyone sends you a message. Calendar, contacts, and tasks are also synchronised between your PAC Mate Omni and a Microsoft Exchange server in real-time. The PAC Mate Omni also directly supports Microsofts Hotmail and other Microsoft mail services directly from its inbox, complete with push technology for these services.

If you need to find an important e-mail in a hurry, the PAC Mate Omni brings you smart filtering. Just start typing when in the inbox, and a search begins for that phrase in the subject and body of all messages. If youre connected to an Exchange server, you can even search the server for messages that arent on your PAC Mate Omni, and download the mail you need.

When you need to take a break, you can even set up your Out of Office message with PAC Mate Omni if youre using a Microsoft Exchange 2007 server.
