Brad Davis THE LATEST FREEDOM SCIENTIFIC BRAILLE DISPLAYS SET A NEW STANDARD OF AFFORDABILITY(St. Petersburg, Florida November 30, 2004) - Freedom Scientific today announced for worldwide distribution two new additions to its Focus line of refreshable braille displays. The Focus 40 and Focus 80, with 40 and 80 cells of braille respectively, combine exceptionally low price with design features based on feedback from our extensive customer base. These two streamlined displays address users’ requests for an ergonomic control layout that more naturally fits the placement of the hands. The design also includes navigation that is easy to learn and customize. Freedom Scientific has placed particular emphasis on the feel of the braille, eliminating seams in the reading surface, resulting in a presentation that is more like paper braille. “First time users of the Focus 40 and Focus 80 invariably comment on the smooth, crisp feel of the braille,” said Dr. Lee Hamilton, CEO of Freedom Scientific. “Our customers told us that they wanted a more ergonomic control layout, a braille display that felt like paper, and lower prices. Our new Focus Braille Displays address all these customer requests and set a new industry price benchmark: retailing for 35% less than the industry average and over 40% less than the most recently announced competitive braille displays.” The two new products are priced at $3,495 and $6,995. Freedom Scientific is accepting orders, and the new braille displays are currently shipping. “Refreshable braille displays open a world of opportunity in education and the workplace,” said Brad Davis, Vice President of Freedom Scientific. “We are particularly proud to once again lead the industry in making this important solution for the blind available to more users.”
