When using FaceToFace on the iPAQ, there are two ways to enter text during a conversation. One way is to use the onscreen keyboard where you must tap the letters you want to enter on the iPAQ's touch screen. The other option is to use the HP Bluetooth foldable keyboard which you may have received with FaceToFace. It features a full qwerty keyboard and is a quick and convenient way to use FaceToFace or other applications on the iPAQ. If your purchase of FaceToFace did not include this keyboard, you can skip this section.
Do the following to configure the keyboard:
Once configured, you will be able to type on the keyboard within FaceToFace and other applications to enter text. If a short period of time has elapsed since a key has been pressed on the keyboard, the keyboard will "go to sleep" and several key presses will be necessary to reestablish the connection with the iPaq. The keyboard will catch up as you continue to type characters if it has gone to sleep.
After bonding the iPaq and the PAC mate and installing and configuring FaceToFace as described in the previous sections of this user guide, follow the steps below to use the iPaq and the Bluetooth keyboard in FaceToFace conversations:
Remember, the iPaq must be in host mode and the PAC Mate in client mode. If you find that a connection is not successfully established between the iPaq and PAC Mate, be sure that the Host and Client comm port settings on the iPaq and PAC Mate match. In addition, it may be necessary to press several keystrokes on the Bluetooth keyboard if it has been a while since any keys have been pressed, or since the keyboard was opened for use.
