How to Host a Workshop

The average price for an organization to send a student to our Saint Petersburg, Florida, workshops is around $1700. If you have five or more students who need training, you may want to consider hosting the workshop at your location.

We can also customize workshops for your specific needs.

In the past, students had to travel to our Saint Petersburg office to attend our classes. However, we now offer these classes, as well as custom curricula at your location!

Benefits of Hosting

If you host a workshop, you can request classes customized to your own needs. You can sell any extra seats and you can charge what you want to for the seats. Freedom Scientific can also advertise your workshop on our Web site. Such advertisement can help you sell extra seats. You can even co-sponsor a workshop with another organization. Freedom Scientific can also help you plan your event.

To keep student-instructor interaction at a high level we limit class size to 10 students for the Script Development with JAWS and MAGic workshop and 12 students for the Supporting and Teaching Windows with JAWS and MAGic workshop. Aside from saving the expense of lodging, airfare, transportation, and meals, hosting a workshop in your area allows your students to attend class together and share in the experience.

Scheduling a Workshop at Your Location

Because of the demand for training, we recommend scheduling your workshops about 60 days in advance to guarantee your desired dates.

As the host of the workshop, you would be responsible for providing computers for the class and a facility to hold the class. Freedom Scientific will provide copies of JAWS to use during the class (if needed), the instructor and class materials. We can also assist with planning and will advertise your class on our Web site, if you desire, to fill all the seats.

Lab Specifications

To host a workshop, you need to have a computer lab running the same operating system with enough computers for the students and instructor. In general, the lab's computers should be installed with the same Windows operating system, and the students should have administrator rights on the computers. You may also wish to install the latest Microsoft updates, including updating to the newest version of Internet Explorer.

Workshop Pricing

The price for a four-day on-site workshop is $10,500 USD. That includes all instructor related expenses as well. When you think about it, you could host a workshop at YOUR LOCATION for 10 to 12 students for about the same price as sending just 6 students to Florida. (Keep in mind the average price to send a student to Florida is about $1700 total per person.) If you fill 12 seats, the cost per student is only $875 each! Compare that to our regular workshop price of $1249 per seat in Saint Petersburg for a five-day workshop. You can find out more information, including updated class brochures on our Web site.
